PRD 210: History and Theory of Product Design II

This course follows a flipped classroom model, and in-class time is spent on active learning activities. The first half of the course covers traditional industrial design history 1950s - present day. The second half of the course has more of a “Design Studies” focus, covering topics such as sustainability, universal design, co-design, user experience design, service design, and critical and speculative design.

PRD 320: Product Design Studio IV

In this course, 3rd year product design students worked in groups with 4th year biomedical engineering students for the design and development of the biomedical engineering senior capstone projects. Student teams worked with clinical collaborators at UK Healthcare to identify unmet clinical needs and design solutions around these needs. I introduced the use of Vizcom, an AI tool for visual renderings of designs from basic sketches and facilitated a sponsorship of 10 pro licenses from Vizcom.

PRD 250 / EGR 250: Computer-Aided Design: SolidWorks

This course was cross-listed for both product design and biomedical engineering students, with the majority of students from biomedical engineering. I designed the course to include different project topic options for biomedical engineering and product design students that were relevant to their respective fields of study. Students learned basic solid modeling techniques as well as more advanced techniques of surface modeling, basic simulations, 3D printing, and visual renderings with Keyshot software.

PRD 471: Advanced Ergonomics

This course needed to be developed for the program’s first ever graduating class. The course was designed to support students in the development of ergonomics, human factors, and/or usability testing plans for their senior thesis projects.

Aug 2022 - Aug 2023

Graduate Research Assistant and Instructor, Model-Based Systems Engineering Foundations and Applications to the Production Enterprise

Worked on a team developing and delivering instructional modules for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as part of the project “Development, Deployment, and Evaluation of Instructional Modules for Current and Future Practitioners of Model-Based Systems Engineering” sponsored by NSF and Boeing. I helped with the design and implementation of two instructional modules: Digital Engineering and the Model-Based Enterprise and the Capstone Module.

Spring 2020

3rd Year Industrial Design Studio (Adjunct)

Co-taught with Dr. Eunsook Kwon. Students did two projects, one focused on children’s health and well-being, and the second focused on UI/UX design or sustainability. I was responsible for writing and delivering lectures about design research, UI/UX design, and sustainability. I coached students on their projects through group critiques and desk critiques.

Spring 2019

Graduate Teaching Assistant, Visual Thinking Course

The Visual Thinking course was the introductory sketching course for the industrial design program. In this role, I was responsible for designing and delivering in-class drawing exercises during every class meeting. I was also responsible for grading and providing verbal feedback and facilitating group critiques.

Fall 2017

Graduate Teaching Assistant, Design Studies Course

The Design Studies course was the course in which senior students developed their research directions for their thesis projects. My responsibilities included developing rubrics, grading assignments, and coaching students in their senior thesis proposal directions.
