The Bartlett Research Lab aims to advance engineering and design education by challenging traditional assumptions and promoting more inclusive learning experiences that are relevant to contemporary engineering practice. Our current projects examine how people develop expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) through formal and informal learning; how professional engineers use and communicate 3D information; and how multidisciplinary capstone design experiences can strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration and problem-solving. Within these projects, we employ mixed-methods and qualitative research approaches to better understand the relationships between education, design, technology, and people.
